TEACHER IMPROVEMENT FELLOWSHIP

We believe that by empowering teachers to lead change at schools and in the community, we are seeding new ideas for improvement in student outcomes. Our Fellowship will engage teacher leaders from across Baltimore to collaborate, design, and lead change efforts in schools and the community. They will inspire and fundamentally influence the way work is done and how we teach students and engage parents.

FELLOWSHIP

Beginning in the Winter of 2020, Improving Education will engage 10 Pre-K to Grade 2 Baltimore City Public Schools Teachers in a year long Fellowship (January 2020-December 2020). Throughout the school year, fellows will meet monthly for collaborative sessions and participate in calls to support the work at schools. During the summer, fellows will engage in an intensive four (4) week term (July 13th - August 7th) that includes academic learning, engagement with other organizations and individuals and project based work to design solutions to problems in early childhood. Fellows will learn from leaders in the field of improvement as well as leaders in the community and the school district making change and leading early childhood change efforts citywide. Fellows will be compensated for their participation in the summer term and sessions throughout the school year. Fellows will receive $5,000 in stipends for their total work. This will be paid in increments of $500 in the spring, $4,000 during the summer and $500 in the fall.

IDEAL CANDIDATES

We are looking for teachers with a mindset for learning, the skills of instructing, and the personality to lead.  Teachers who are open to new ideas, challenging the status quo, and leading change efforts in their schools and in the city.  Candidates must be current Baltimore City Schools teachers who teach Pre-kindergarten through second grade and hold a valid, active Maryland State teaching certification in either early childhood education or elementary education.
